Some readers of Raging Chicken Press may have already heard the news, but it’s worth posting it here. As Raging Chicken Press expands its readership and ambition to help build a progressive media infrastructure in the region and to contribute to building social movements, we are continually amazed at the positive responses we receive. We are also amazed at what is possible once you stop complaining about the lack of progressive media and, instead, become a part of building progressive media.
The December issue of Raging Chicken Press will be our sixth issue and we’ve only been around since April 2011. And yet, we have already built relationships with other media projects – most notably Dustin Slaughter’s David and Goliath Project, progressive labor talk radio – The Rick Smith Show, and a growing network of associated bloggers. Each issue that we publish also brings inquiries from writers, videographers, and activists who want to contribute. But, nothing could have prepared us for the incredible opportunity we had right before the Thanksgiving holiday.
On Tuesday, November 22nd, Raging Chicken Press landed an interview with Noam Chomsky. That’s right, that Noam Chomsky. Chomsky was in Kutztown, PA to deliver the inaugural address for UNESCO’s World Philosophy Day at Kutztown University, “The U.S. and the UN.” Raging Chicken Press put in a request for an interview and Chomsky made time for our little press. The December issue will feature the full 30+ minute video interview with Chomsky. In early 2012, we will produce several shorter segments based on the interview that will be easier to distribute.
What did we talk about? The Occupy movement, labor history, practices of solidarity, and quite a bit more. So, stay plugged in for the December issue. It should be out by the second week of the month. And, as always, thanks for checking us out.
